The coronavirus pandemic ushered in a new era for fitness centers, and your cleaning business can help them reopen safely. Over 90% of recently-surveyed people said strict sanitization requirements will be important in helping them to decide whether to visit gyms, and performing more stringent disinfecting and cleaning can help your members feel at ease. Follow these tips to safely reopen and meet new expectations from consumers
The CDC has a wealth of information regarding safe cleaning practices for fitness facilities.
In accordance with their guidelines, make frequent disinfecting a top priority and create a system for disinfecting all equipment after every use. Clean before disinfecting, and choose the right disinfectant for your surfaces. Make sure it is approved by the EPA for use against COVID-19 ( we are happy to recommend some of our favorites! ). Always follow the instructions on your cleaning products’ labels, and wear disposable gloves while cleaning and disinfecting to protect yourself and reduce the risk of cross-contamination.
Keeping your fitness facility spotless is essential, now more than ever. Cleaner gyms have more satisfied members, keep members longer and are more likely to be recommended to family and friends.
Performing deep cleanings while customers are in the facility can help reassure them that you take hygiene seriously. Communicate your reopening plans with members so they understand the extra measures you are taking to keep them safe and healthy.
When used by multiple people, gym equipment becomes a magnet for grime and bacteria. Consistently sanitizing your fitness equipment can reduce the amount of harmful bacteria on the surface. Use wipes to sanitize equipment multiple times a day, and remember that every surface of the equipment should be wiped down and disinfected. Let the equipment dry completely before allowing use again (and instruct your staff to monitor this if necessary!). This waiting period is essential for the disinfectant to do its job.
After using wet wipes, instruct your staff to take cleaning a step further by using a gym disinfectant spray or an electrostatic sprayer with a powerful disinfectant solution. Contact us to learn more about these options and how you can keep health and safety a top priority at your fitness center.
